The Scene Sydney

The Scene Sydney is a platform for Sydney's dance music industry and community: artists, venues, promoters, businesses and the people who follow them.

It needed to work as a real product, not a brochure site. Accounts, profiles, a directory, events and search all had to hold together.

The industry was spread across social platforms, group chats and event listings with no shared home.

Any platform solving that had to be genuinely easy to use on a phone at 11pm, and had to be discoverable in search rather than relying on a single social feed.

We mapped the different types of user first: someone browsing what is on, an artist building a profile, a business listing itself, and an admin keeping the platform tidy.

The data model and URL structure were designed together, so profiles, directory listings and events all sit on clean, indexable paths.
